Tim Horton was one of the greatest defensemen to ever play the sport of hockey. His long career spanned from 1949 until 1974. During 18 of those seasons, Horton was a staple for the Toronto Maple Leafs as the franchise captured four Stanley Cup championships. Tim was also a very strong player noted for his fine skating technique and great rushing ability. He possessed an excellent slap shot which netted him 126 goals over a regular season and playoff career which totaled an impressive 1,572 games: Tim was also named to the All-Star team six times in his career. Known as a great gentleman, Horton tragically died while still an active player at age 44 in an auto accident near St. Catharines, Ontario on February 21, 1974.
